Victims Killed in Ship Sink Kolaka So 10 People

The death toll Kolaka disaster-the sinking of the KMP Windu Karsa be 10 people. Seven victims were taken to hospitals Kolaka, while three others are still in the process of evacuation.

Based on the observation at the Hospital Kolaka, Saturday (27/08/2011) at approximately 11:00 pm, the victim has not been identified. Because not all victims of identity cards pocketed when the ship sank.

Most passenger ships departing from Port Bajoe, None, South Sulawesi, to the Port of Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi, was resting when the ship sank. Many of the victims were found wearing only a sarong or shorts without carrying identity.

Nevertheless the presence of victims at the site kelaurga greatly help speed up the process of identification.

Meanwhile, Southeast Sulawesi Police Chief Brig Sigit Sudarmanto justify shipwreck because of a leak behind the wheel. Yet why the ship could still leak will be investigated.

Police chief also deplored the number of passengers recorded in the manifest does not match reality. In the manifest recorded only 57 passengers while the latest data contained 95 passengers. In fact, he indicated the passengers can be more than 100 people.

Suspected Cause Leaks Sink Ships

Kolaka - Passenger Motor Vessel (KMP) Windu Karsa drowned when left from the port Bajoe, Bone, South Sulawesi to Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi in the waters of the Gulf of Bone Saturday (08/27/2011) at approximately 0:05 pm dawn.

The cause of the accident allegedly caused by a leak in the rear wheel of the ship.

Dozens of survivors of the 30 adults and 7 children under the age successfully evacuated to the port Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi. While the two victims were reportedly killed in this incident.

Based on the passenger list obtained from PT ASDP Kolaka, ships belonging to former Vice President Jusuf Kalla was loading 58 passengers, 20 crew, 20 cars and five motorcycles.

Finance Director of PT ASDP Kolaka, Pata Tapobroto said Windu Karsa ferry depart on Friday (26/08/2011) afternoon around 15:00 PM and is scheduled to arrive at 00.00 midnight.

The fateful ship had communicated with PT ASDP at 23.30 before it sank.

Currently a joint team of police and rescue teams are still trying to evacuate casualties by using speed boats to the island Lambasina to get medical care. (output)
